Scioto County Injury Lawyer Jeremy M. Burnside was born and raised in Cleveland, Ohio.  He graduated from the University of Charleston (WV) in 2000 where he served as student body president, captain of the rowing team and editor of the school’s yearbook.  He won the 1998 US Army ROTC National Sojourner’s Award, Tau Kappa Epsilon International Man of the Year (“Top Teke”) honor and was named All American Scholar.  Mr. Burnside graduated law school from the Appalachian School of Law in 2004 where he was named to the Dean’s List and where he won the Virginia Trial Lawyer’s 2004 Trial Advocacy Award.   In honor of the victims of the Appalachian School of Law murders of 2002, Mr. Burnside founded the ASL Memorial 5k race, which is approaching its tenth year of benefiting first year law students.

After over five years of practicing personal injury law in his hometown of Cleveland, Mr. Burnside relocated to Portsmouth, Ohio, where he has established his own law practice that serves clients in Ohio and Kentucky.  He has tried several important cases to juries, including cases that have ranged from serious personal injury to aggravated murder.  Mr. Burnside enjoys rowing, rock climbing, writing and running.  He hopes to soon open more law offices, initiate a rowing club and start a family.

Maddie Rutman is a legal assistant who provides each client with respect and understanding.  She realizes the importance of each case and is very good about returning phone calls.  

Ms. Rutman has a degree in Business Administration from Shawneee State University.  She is also a local Realtor for Century 21 Empire Realty, S.E.. 

Ms. Rutman is from Portsmouth, Ohio and enjoys seeing justice for personal injury victims.  She is committed to assisting each client receive the justice they deserve.
